October’s wrapping up, but your marketing shouldn’t. The holidays might bring clicks, but smart strategy keeps them coming back. Stay visible, stay sharp, and finish the year with intention.

TL;DR: The holidays are great for visibility, but smart business owners know the real win is what happens after the holidays. Keep that attention rolling into January with a few easy, human-centered strategies.

Hi, Carrie here, founder and owner of The Rockenstein Agency in North Myrtle Beach, SC. We’ve made it to the last week of October, and the pressure is on. Local businesses are gearing up for the season that makes or breaks their fourth quarter. If you’re already feeling behind, take a breath. You still have time to set your business up for a strong, confident holiday season.

The key is to keep things simple and intentional. You don’t need a huge budget or a full production crew. You just need a solid plan that keeps your business visible while everyone else is shouting for attention. Let’s walk through what that looks like.

Decide What You Want the Holidays to Do for You

Not every business needs to chase holiday sales. Some want visibility, others want to build reputation, and some just want to stay consistent until the new year. Figure out your main goal before doing anything else.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I want more traffic to my website?

  • Do I want to move specific products or services?

  • Do I want to strengthen relationships with my existing customers?

Once you know that, everything else becomes easier to plan.

Create a Simple Posting Schedule

Holiday marketing doesn’t have to be complicated. Choose two or three key dates and plan content around them.

For example:

  • Thanksgiving week: Gratitude post, a note from your team, or a customer appreciation highlight.

  • December 1-15: Share holiday hours, gift ideas, or community involvement.

  • After Christmas: “See you in the new year” wrap-up post or sneak peek of what’s next.

If you’re a small business, people want to see your personality. Keep it friendly and conversational. Real photos and short captions always perform better than perfect stock images.

Refresh Your Google Business Profile

Before the holiday rush, update your business hours, contact information, and photos. Add posts about your seasonal offers or events. Respond to any new reviews so your page looks active and trustworthy.

People are more likely to visit or call if they see recent updates. Don’t skip this step. It’s free visibility that directly affects your local search ranking.

Plan One Small Promotion

Even a modest offer can make a big difference. You don’t need deep discounts or a “Black Friday blowout.” Try something light that still grabs attention:

  • Free gift wrapping or a small add-on

  • $10 off when you book before a certain date

  • A “Holiday Tune-Up” or “Winter Ready” special if you’re in the service industry

Frame it around gratitude, not urgency. “Thank you for supporting local businesses this year” feels better than “Hurry before it’s gone.”

Get Ahead on Graphics and Videos

Make your visuals now, before things get hectic. You’ll thank yourself later. Canva templates, short Reels, and customer shout-outs all work well during this season.

If you want your posts to perform, lean into warmth and community. People scroll past generic ads but stop for local faces, real stories, and genuine appreciation.

Focus on Customer Experience

The holidays are busy for everyone, so this is the perfect time to stand out by keeping things smooth.

  • Reply quickly to messages.

  • Double-check your voicemail greeting and social links.

  • If you’re closed certain days, post it early so no one shows up confused.

Good communication is part of marketing. It shows reliability and professionalism.

Take Care of Your Future Self

Set reminders to track your results in January. You’ll want to see what worked so you can plan better next year. Save screenshots of your best-performing posts, note any ads that converted, and jot down what your customers responded to most.

Your future self will thank you when you start 2026 with ready-made insights.

End October Strong

Before you log off for the weekend, do a quick review:

  • Are your hours updated everywhere?

  • Do your holiday posts look consistent?

  • Have you planned at least one community-minded message?

Even if you can’t do everything, do something. A little consistency goes a long way during this season.
